WinZip: #1 zip & unzip tool App Reviews

Doesnt do anything, just loops telling you what you can do with the paid version.

Not fully functional. Features from the banners are not available.

The app is free of charge. Tried to open a RAR or ZIP file based on the instruction. WinZip starts and closed immediately.

Update 11.10.12: in general WinZip@iOS6 is working fine. But it seems that some malformatted ZIP file names (e.g. with a lot of dots in the filename like the billing information from Deutsche Telekom) cannot be opened because iOS assumes the file not to be a zip file). So: if you cant open a zip file with WinZip@iOS6 it can be related to a strange file name of the zip file. But this is an Apple bug, because also other unzip Apps cannot handle those files.

Looks promising but I miss support for tar.gz and .bz2 archives.

You can look into archives and open single files but you cannot unzip the files. when you try you are asked to buy full version but don’t get told file won’t be unzipped. irritating, annoying, misleading. App description states it would be possible to unzip.

This is the Test trial Version, u cant free use, u need upgrade!!! And with ads!!

Tested compatibility with zip version 14.5 of windows Unzip ok if the file is not encripted. It will not unzip if the file is encripted in the zip format I always get the message: passwrd error ... Finally does not work with zipx files Will be good app when this problem is fixed

Thanks to Winzip for the iPhone, I dont need to rush off to find a browser to open attached Zip files. Productivity and immediacy remain intact, thanks to this new app!

Be aware there may be a problem with WinZip and charging your iPhone 4S. I installed it last night and this morning my phone would not charge. I uninstalled the WinZip program rebooted phone and it charged just fine. This possibly is not related but I doubt it. Just be aware of the issue and if it happens to you write a review and let everybody else know it doesnt work.

Finally the best compression program on the market comes to iPhone. Ive been using WinZip on my systems and at most client sites for years, so I was very excited when I saw this gem on the iTunes App Store. And I havent had any real issues UNzipping regular ZIP files. Ive had some issues where the files were protected, but if I remove the protection then it works. My biggest complaint is you can NOT ZIP files -- isnt that the whole point of a compression program? TO be able to not just uncompress ZIPped files, but to be able to compress and re-ZIP -- or create from scratch new ZIP files? This app is OK -- but I cant give it a high rating until it does BOTH compressing and uncompressing of files.
